BICHOLIM: A delegation of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh met Chief Secretary Parimal Rai on Thursday and demanded resumption mining in the State.
The delegation comprised of General Secretary Krishna Pal, Kisan Ghadge and Prakash Govekar.
Krishna Pal reportedly brought to the notice of the chief secretary that Sesa Vedanta workers are being paid only half a month salary, while other mining companies have stopped paying salaries to their workers. “Therefore, the government should take steps to restart mines in the State,” he reportedly told Rai.
Pal reportedly informed the chief secretary that his organisation would write to Union Minister Amit Shah requesting him to restart mining in Goa.
He also reportedly to Rai that in coming days the Mazdoor Sangh would meet Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to finalise the meeting with Amit Shah.
Pal also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for forming a committee under Shah to discuss mining issue after BMS wrote to him.
The delegation also congratulated Speaker Rajesh Patnekar for facilitating the meeting with Rai.
After listening to their grievances, the Chief Secretary reportedly assured the delegation that he would start the legal procedure to restart mining in the State.
