MARGAO: The Margao police have arrested live-in partners Aniket Rajguru and Niki Pandey for abandoning two minor children in the town. The couple was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Margao, and a four-day remand has been secured for further investigation.
The motive behind abandoning the two minors is not yet known, and police are set to record statements from the accused to ascertain the reasons for their actions.

Rajguru and Nikita were detained by the police at Sawantwadi along with Niki’s two minor children as well as Manhu Pandey, the father of the abandoned minors who were found roaming in Margao last week. Pandey, suffering from a liver ailment, has been admitted to the South Goa District Hospital for treatment.
Niki and Aniket Rajguru were arrested, while the two minors were sent to Apna Ghar, a childcare institution. On January 27, a two-year-old boy was found at Konkan Railway Station parking lot, while a three-year-old girl was found by traders near Gandhi Market in Margao.
The police had issued wireless messages across Goa and neighbouring States seeking information about the abandoned minors. On January 30, Anjali Pandey, the mother of the abandoned children, was traced by the Konkan Railway Police at the Margao station. Anjali then told police about how she was travelling on a train from Bihar with her children, her husband Manhu Pandey, his ‘other wife’ Niki, her two minor children, and her partner Rajguru.
She alleged that the three adults disembarked from the train without her knowledge, taking with them all four children and all her belongings, even her phone.
Anjali Pandey and her two children are currently lodged in Apna Ghar as well.
