PANJIM: The Crime Branch and the Saligao police raided two places one at Vasco and the other at Saligao and arrested two peddlers with cannabis.

The Crime Branch police have arrested Shyam Chawan, 22 from Vasco and recovered ganja worth Rs 4 lakh from his possession.
Police stated that on December 27, Chawan was caught red handed with illegal possession of greenish colour flowering and fruiting tops of a plant suspected to be narcotic drugs ganja weighing 4 kilograms concealed in a bag pack. A blue colour scooter bearing registration number GA-06-AC-1671 which was allegedly used in commission of the crime was also seized by the police.
The mobile phone of the accused has been taken into custody for the purpose of investigation.
Meanwhile the Saligao police seized charas worth Rs 2.8 lakh in a raid late Thursday night. Police stated that they received a tip-off that a person would be coming to deliver narcotics to a prospective customer near Field Side restaurant at Dhonwaddo, Saligao, following which they conducted a raid on Friday and apprehended Dinesh Kumar, 30, who was found in illegal possession of 280 grams narcotic substance suspected to be charas worth Rs 2.8 lakh.
Kumar, a resident of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, has been arrested and booked under Section 20(b l(ii)(B) of NDPS Act 1985, and is presently in police custody.
