MARGAO: The annual Matoli bazaar of Netravali Self Help Groups was inaugurated on Tuesday at the hands of MP Narendra Sawaikar at the Lohia Maidan in Margao.
Former Fatorda MLA Damu Naik, Sanguem MLA Subhash Phal Dessai, Director of Planning and Statistics, Anand Sherkhane and others were present at the occasion.
The Matoli bazaar has 19 stalls and more than 450 workers of Self Help Groups participating.
The activity had begun after the adoption of the Netravalli village for development under Atal Adarsh Gram Yojana.
The Government has allotted Rs 10 crores for the Atal Adarsh Gram Yojana, which had eventually lost its entire track recently.
“The Scheme was transferred to the Agriculture Department and got stuck there. I apologise to all for the goof up and now the scheme has been given back to the Planning Department and now we will streamline all the procedures for an effective implementation” said Subhash Phal Dessai.
“The basic idea is to propagate and mobilise resources from villages and give them an enroute where they can create economic growth. The department has to be congratulated for the work they did for the scheme”, said Narendra Sawaikar.
