After a prolonged delay, Goa Police finally issued ‘red corner notice’ against the drug peddler Yaniv alias Atala Benaim ever since he has been missing since last week of July.
Highly placed sources in the Crime Branch confirmed that the red corner notice was issued against Atala on September 1. The investigating team had revealed they realized Atala’s sudden disappearance when he failed to respond to summons that required him for some clarifications in the drug nexus probe.
The alleged drug peddler was arrested on March 9 from a shack at Pernem after his jilted girlfriend Lucky Farmhouse secretly filmed his confession wherein Atala was seen bragging about  his connection with Goa Police.
The videos uploaded on Internet video sites – youtube.com and metacafe.com, also showed Atala speaking on how anti-narcotic men stole narcotics from the Mapusa court locker to resell in the market.
He was released on bail by Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Court on June 21 with various conditions imposed on him.
The Crime Branch has already issued a ‘look out circular’ against him on August 25, 18 days after the missing episode came to light.
