PANJIM: One pedestrian was injured in a multi-vehicle collision that also involved a truck at Corlim on Friday afternoon. While the pedestrian is out of danger, Old Goa police have booked the driver for rash driving.
The incident occurred when a container stopped to take a turn near Corlim IDC gate at around 12:30-45pm. Old Goa PI Gurudas Kadam said a BMW car which was behind the container too stopped but the tipper truck banged the car’s rear after the driver allegedly failed to apply the brake in time.
“The other four cars which were following the truck then banged into each other. In the entire chaos, one of the car’s hit a lady pedestrian who was returning home with her two children, who luckily escaped the accident. The victim was rushed to Goa Medical College. She is out of danger,” he said.
DySP Nelson Albuquerque who is monitoring the case said they have booked an offence against the driver Mikudas who hails from Uttrakhand. He was sent to GMC for medical examination including alcohol test while the woman victim’s statement was being recorded till late evening.
The accident comes just four days after a fatal crash between a car and a truck claimed the lives of five persons including two pedestrians on the same stretch of the road.
