MARGAO: Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah said Goa has the full potential of becoming the model State in the country and expressed confidence that this will happen with Manohar Parrikar as the State’s chief minister.
Inaugurating the South Goa District Office this evening, he said whenever BJP has come to power in any state by replacing the previous government, it is not a mere change in government but a change in policy of governance and asserted that his party is only concerned about development.
“Look at the development Goa has seen since Manohar Parrikar became the chief minister,” he said adding that Laxmikant Parsekar also brought development and said that Goa is all set to seek giant strides in development with the help and support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Many projects were started and already completed by Parrikar and Parsekar and Modi is giving all help required whether financial or by way of licenses and permissions,” he said.
Besides development, he said the BJP is also committed to give a honest and transparent government and does not tolerate any form of corruption, which he said is the reason why people re-elect the BJP to power as happened in Goa and praised Parrikar for being a common man chief minister.
While disclosing that by December 2018 the party will have its office in every district in the country, said the actual credit for the party’s growth goes to the party workers and added that BJP was the only political party where party members become like family members.
He expressed confidence that the Mopa airport will help increase the tourists arrival in Goa three times and said Goa can look forward to good infrastructure.
Earlier in his brief speech, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that BJP’s mission Goa was starting wherein Goa would become the model state in the country. Taking a swipe at his so called Mission Salcete, he revealed that the South Goa BJP office premises were 47 square metres more than the North Goa office premises.
Union Minister Shripad Naik, MP Narendra Sawaikar, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, MLAs Nilesh Cabral, Alina Saldanha and BJP all India General Secretary and MP Bhupendra Yadav were amongst those seated on the dais.
