VASCO: While slamming BJP-MGP led state Government in Goa, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) senior leader Praful Patel has urged all the secular forces to fight together to defeat the “communal BJP” in the forthcoming state assembly polls.
He was addressing an NCP workers’ convention in Vasco to officially kick start party’s election campaign for Goa polls.
Kerala Transport Minister A K Saseendran, Kerala state NCP president Uzhavoor Vijayan, NCP Observer Goa State Nawab Malik, state NCP President Jose Philip D’ Souza and other NCP Leaders of Goa state were present on the occasion.
“Today, I happened to read the statement of one of the ally of BJP, where MGP leader Sudin Dhavlikar made a statement about no party getting majority in Goa in forthcoming polls. This only means that Goa is as usual going to go for coalition politics in future and therefore I request all political parties who think alike to work together, fight together in defeating BJP to bring Parivartan in Goa,” he said
Further, Patel said, “NCP is ready to cooperate with all secular parties to defeat communal force. But it is not the sole responsibility of NCP to bring all secular forces together, and it is the responsibility of all likeminded people. If everybody is ready, then, we are also ready to cooperate and bring all secular forces together to defeat BJP.”
However, he also clarified that if any party thinks that NCP is helpless or NCP can do what it wants, then NCP is ready to fight the elections under any circumstances.
“Some leaders from a political party recently came down from Delhi and made statement using the language that they are the only ones who can defeat BJP. I am sorry. Those days are over when they thought that they could alone take on others. They need to take all together; otherwise, we will never find victory of secularism but the victory of communalism,” he warned.
He also slammed BJP governments both at the State and Centre for ‘neglecting’ development in Goa. Instead of changing for better, Goa has changed for worse, he said.
