PANJIM: The Goa Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes has announced implementing intensive crash course for the students of Class XII Science belonging to the SC and ST Community.
Minister for Tribal Welfare Govind Gaude informed that since NEET entrance exam is mandatory for admission in all medical and para medical courses except pharmacy, while every student aspiring for seeking admission in engineering needs to answer the GCET exam, the Commission had proposed to conduct same crash course during the last academic year.
“It was not possible to conduct the same due to paucity of time. However, this academic year the Commission successfully completed the required procedure of tendering. Aryaan Study Circle, Margao was selected for imparting coaching to the students for GCET and NEET. The selected coaching institute shall be empanelled for a period of two years, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020,” the Minister informed at a press conference on Monday.
The Commission will conduct coaching for 130 students out of which 65 shall be coached for NEET and 65 for GCET. Out of 65 students coached for the two programs, 55 will be students from ST Community and 10 from the SC Community. “The coaching program is for those students who are in class XII in the current academic year only, that is 2018-19,” he said.
The total cost for the coaching program of Rs 35,09,025 will be borne by the Commission.
