Unidentified persons stole huge amount of money from a businessman’s car, which was parked in the Kala Academy parking lot, on Tuesday afternoon.
Vasant Naik, a resident from Bogmalo was in a rude shock to see that his car’s windowpanes were broken and envelop containing cash of rupees eight lakhs was missing from underneath the car seat.
Earlier, Naik withdrew the cash amount from a private bank at Mala and proceeded for a business meeting with one of his clients at Kala Academy during the lunch hours.
Police sub-inspector Baban Powar said that the complainant had parked his car in the parking area and on returning back after few minutes, he saw that someone had stolen the envelop containing cash by breaking his car’s windowpanes.
A complaint was filed at the Panjim town police station. The police is investigating the case under sections 427 (mischief) and 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code.
