VASCO: A freak fire at Driver hill in Vasco resulted in extensive loss to two four-wheelers and a two-wheeler on Friday afternoon.
The fire incident was reported on Friday afternoon after bamboos dumped in an open place caught fire. The place is often used for parking of vehicles. The fire caused damage to the vehicles parked nearby. The trigger for the fire is not known however locals claim that it may be the fire set to the garbage nearby that may have spread on to the dumped bamboos.
Fire Officer Vishwas Ashtekar said, “We had turned up on time but the hindrances on road prevented the fire vehicle from reaching the spot.”
Mandar Bandekar, a local, said the road to Driver Hill has been narrowed down due to parking on both sides. “I request the people here not to park in roads so that in case of occurrence of fire or other emergencies there is unhindered access to the spot,” Mandar said.
