Sesa FA had the better of ball possession and attempts at the rival goal in the first session. Mahammad Faheez collected a pass from Akash Kudnekar inside the penalty box and drilled a stiff grounder which was excellently grabbed with a diving save by Vasco’s custodian Luis Barreto.

Sesa had two more chances to take the lead in the 14th and 15th minutes but first, Clencio Pinto’s strike was confidently collected by the goalkeeper while Thokchom Singh’s shot from just outside the 6-yard box brushed a Vasco defender at the expense of a corner.

In a quick counter-attack Vasco’s Altamesh Sayed found unmarked Savlon Fernandes inside the 18-yard box. The last named had only the rival goalkeeper Roanal to beat, but his shot travelled wide.

At the other end, Vasco’s goalkeeper Luis tipped the ball over from a firm header off Daniel Gomes.

The Port Towners squandered another glorious chance to take the lead when skipper Cavin intelligently provided a through pass to overlapping Under-20 Jesvan Fernandes who, however, failed to lob the ball over the onrushing Sesa custodian Roanal, to utter disbelief of his teammates.

Sesa once again came close to forge ahead in the 38th minute, but a left footer from Thokchom zoomed past the goalpost.

Vasco came with renewed ideas after the break and almost pinned their opponents inside their own territory for a major part of the session.

Skipper Cavin had three goal-bound attempts but Sesa’s goalkeeper Roanal  stood tall in the goal to deny him from scoring. Altamesh too saw his strike being saved by the Sesa custodian.
