MARGAO: The South Goa Administrator of Comunidades on Monday began the process of serving demolition notices on the residents of Moti Dongor and adjoining Talsanzor, giving the households 15 days time to show cause why the structures should not be removed under the Goa Land (Prohibition of Construction Act), 2005.
Comunidade officials served around 38 notices on the 42 illegal structures atop Talsanzor on Monday and the officials are bracing up to issue notices on the 210 inhabitants of Moti Dongor from Tuesday. The parties have been directed to produce documents in support of their case and remain present for personal hearing in the office of the Comunidade Administrator on June 4.
“You have carried out illegal construction on the Comunidade land without there being any allotment in your favour, thereby encroaching upon the Comunidade land. The said construction is being carried out without necessary approvals, permissions from the concerned authorities, stated Comunidade Administrator Sangeeta Naik in the show cause notice.
A Comunidade team led by Escrivao Amaro Afonso along with other officials and police descended atop the Talsanzor hillock this morning after receiving a go ahead signal from the Administrator. The team pasted the notices on the doors of houses which were found locked this morning. “We are issuing the notices at Talsanzor first since there are only 42 illegal structures. We will start serving the notices on Moti Dongor residents from Tuesday”, he added. At the end of the day, the team is believed to have served only 38 notices, sources added.
This is the second time in less than two months that the Administrator of Comunidades is serving notices on the inhabitations to demolish the structures under the Goa Land (Prohibition of Construction Act), 2005. The first time round, the Administrator had issued the notices on February 8, which were later challenged by the parties in two separate petitions in the High Court. The two petitions were disposed off by the High Court on April 24 on a statement that that notices issued to the inhabitants would be withdrawn and that action would be initiated against the structures after issuing show cause notices to the concerned parties.
