PANJIM/ MAPUSA: Sesa Football Academy maintained their unbeaten streak in the ongoing GFA U-14 league, after a 3-2 win against Dempo SC in the round 3 fixture held at Sesa Football Academy ground, Sanquelim.
Sendy Mangte won an early free-kick for SFA and directed it towards the opposition box, where Nishar’s neat touch directed it past helpless Dempo keeper to give SFA an early lead.
Dempo SC Asher Fernandes hit the post in the 6th minute after an error from SFA defence allowed him to take control of the ball and strike from close range.
SFA player dribbled past Dempo SC midfielders with dancing feet to provide a lobbed pass towards Zimik, who cut back inside on his left foot but missed the far post by a few inches.
Asher Fernandes equalised for Dempo in the 21st minute after an error from SFA keeper allowed his shot from outside the box to find the net.
Mo Shahil on the left-wing for SFA made a darting run forward and delivered a low cross to Sendy Mangte who placed it into the net. SFA went in at half time 2-1 up.
Dempo struck back in the beginning of the second half through Asher Fernandes who equalised for the second time.
SFA keeper spilled the ball and allowed Dempo striker to head it into the back of the net in the 57th minute.
The match was decided by SFA forward Mo. Shahil who made a run past opposition defense and took control of a brilliant one-touch through ball from Sendy Mangte. Shahil placed it deftly past Dempo keeper to secure a 3-2 win for the hosts.
In another match at Astro Turf ground, Fatorda, Sporting Club de Goa and Churchill Brothers SC played out a 1-1 draw.
In the U-14 Second Division League match, CAC Cansaulim scored a fluent 3-1 win over Cortalim Villagers at Velsao ground.
Rayann Gama scored a brace for the winners while Lester Moura scored the third. Cortalim Villagers reduced the deficit through Ruben Azavedo.
