MARGAO: Mobile towers were heatedly discussed at two gram sabhas held today in Salcete with villagers from one approving the erection of a mobile tower while in the other the person who had erected the towers was compelled to assure the crowd that he would get a relevant certificate from the Goa State Pollution Control Board.
At the Guirdolim gram sabha after a heated discussion it was finally resolved that the mobile tower be erected in the private property of Jovinton at Anthoi which is a heavily populated area and that Jovinton would submit the formal proposal to the panchayat.
Some of the villagers were opposed to erecting the tower in a residential area and in fact a memorandum signed by around 125 villagers was handed over to the panchayat demanding that the mobile tower be erected on a hilly area.
