PANJIM: Widespread opposition to the new Goa Shack Policy 2023-26 has compelled Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte to convene a meeting of the coastal MLAs to discuss the issue threadbare and allay the apprehensions of the stakeholders.
The meeting will be held at the Paryatan Bhavan, Patto-Panjim at 4 pm on Thursday. The meeting will deliberate on the new Shack Policy and will now take into confidence the coastal MLAs even as the policy was approved by the Cabinet last week, much to the chagrin of the shack operators.
The contentious issue in the new policy is the insertion of the age limit wherein only those between 18 and 60 years can apply, with the shack operators raising their strong objection and demanding to omit the age limit criteria.
