PANJIM: The former Goa Cricket Association (GCA) secretary, Chetan Desai filed a court petition on Friday with regards to the ongoing imbroglio within the GCA.
The petition stated that voting should be done by the secretary and president of the clubs. The petition also stressed on setting up a committee to oversee the elections by the High Court. The notices too were served on Friday to the individuals allegedly involved in the turmoil.
“I am looking ahead to the court order which will be up for hearing in two days time,” informed Chetan.
Dr Shekhar Salkar, Desai, Vinod Phadke, Suraj Lotlikar and Manohar Naik had filed their nominations for the post of GCA President.
Chetan on Thursday had rebuked the behaviour of the GCA President Dr Salkar and dubbed his actions as “unconstitutional”.
“He should have brought in the Election Commissioner at this point of time instead of him proving a point,” said Chetan.
The Goa Cricket Association President Dr Shekhar Salkar had suspended Chetan Desai from the post of secretary yet again, on Thursday, a day after reinstating him amid high drama at the GCA headquarters, on Wednesday.
Dr Salkar had also passed an interim order and lodged a FIR with the Porvorim police station after claiming that a group of 100 people led by Desai had forced him to sign a document reinstating Desai on the chair.
The GCA Managing Committee meeting is scheduled on June 20 and the appointment of Sudin Kamat as Secretary of GCA by removing Chetan Dessai is subject to the order of the court.
