IMD issues orange alert till July 15, yellow alert for next two days

PANJIM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa has issued orange alert for three days from July 13 to July 15 while, yellow alert has been issued for July 16 and July 17.

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over North and South Goa districts on Sunday. The IMD recorded 64.mm heavy rainfall in last 24 hours and heavy rainfall of 115.5 mm in 24 hours at few places.

Intense spells and strong surface winds gusting to 50 kmph is likely along with rainfall spells at few places across the State.

The IMD has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea due to high wave warning during the above mentioned period.

Meanwhile, incidents of trees getting uprooted were reported across the state.

A wall of a house collapsed while a tree fell on the road near old Bombay high court building at Altinho-Panjim, on Saturday night.

Incidents of coconut trees crashing down and snapping electricity lines were reported at Shiroda, Borim, Navelim and Altinho, Panjim.
