MARGAO: Following complaints from Margao residents about the absence of parking facilities and traffic congestion outside Inox, South Goa District Collector Sachin Shinde’s office has issued a showcause notice to the parties concerned.
It is to be noted that the matter was already under the purview of the collector. In September, United Goans Foundation secretary Avinash Tavares filed a complaint with the collector in this regard, following which a showcause notice was issued to Inox and Osia complex.
Tavares has stated that they are planning to approach the court if the authorities do not take action. He said that the area meant for parking has been used to store a generator for the cinema and that the TCP dept should have demarcated land for parking.
He also questioned why the authorities were not reacting to SGPDA grounds being used for parking.
Tavares also said that it has to be seen if the collector takes action against the two parties if they fail to respond to the showcause notice. He also suggested that the road to Inox be made one-way to ease traffic congestion.
Inox had recently tried to place barricades outside its complex to regulate traffic, which was subsequently removed by traffic police
