PANJIM: The Mopa Police on Tuesday booked a 26-year-old man from Uttarakhand for allegedly carrying six live rounds of ammunition in his baggage.

According to police, the ammunition was detected in the baggage of the accused identified as Anshul Ghai, resident of Chukkhuwala, Dehradun, Uttarakhand at around 3.10 pm.
Ghai was supposed to travel from Manohar International Airport, Mopa, to Delhi. He could not produce any valid arms licence to carry and possess the rounds and also could not produce any permission from the competent authority to carry the same in the aircraft, police said.
During the inquiry, the accused stated that on September 9, 2024, he travelled to Shirdi and the next day, he along with his friends went to meet his aunty Surekha Ghai, wife of late Col Mahesh Ghai, at Khandwa, Pune. The bag in which the ammunition was detected was given by his aunty in memory of his uncle, police said.
The Mopa Police have registered an offence under section 3, read with 25 of Arms Act, 1959, and served the accused notice under section 35 of BNSS.
The case is being investigated by Mopa Police Station PI Mopa Narayan Chimulkar under the supervision of North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal, IPS, and Pernem SDPO Jivba Dalvi.
