Kamat inspects Gandhi market to prove ‘he cares’

MARGAO: Margao MLA Digambar Kamat made yet another inspection of the Gandhi Market area to make sure that the drainage and the water supply is in place.

MLA Digambar has made a personal visit to the place along with the Junior Engineer and has initiated immediate action in finding the fault in the water line. The parking and garbage issues perennial to the market and surrounding areas have to be solved by the MMC and Kamat has spoken to the chairperson to get them solved.
“The water line had ruptured in the past and while repairing the line rain water entered the line which has now been cleared,” said Kamat while brushing aside and refuting the charges levelled against him on Monday. “I have checked the water supply yesterday and have found no smell to the tap water which was the major complaint of the locals. The fact is the pipeline had ruptured and while it was being repaired the rain water entered the pipeline. The water has been cleared now and clean water with optimum pressure is flowing now” adds Digambar.
MLA has also asked the PWD and Sulabh to jointly clean the drain where the Sulabh releases the sewage. “Sulabh toilet cannot have a septic tank dug as it is in a low lying area, hence has to release the sewage in drains.”
The solution to it is completion of the sewage line and connect the line to it” said Digambar.
Margao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Arthur D’silva has promised to keep a garbage vehicle stationed at the market to solve the garbage issue.
