Tiracol Coastal Police Seize Sand Extraction Equipment in Pernem; Case Registered

In the early hours of April 7, 2025, at around 4:50 AM, Tiracol Coastal Police, led by PSI Yogesh Shirodkar and PC Aditya Shetye, conducted a raid on sand extraction activities in the Tiracol River. While patrolling in the river via a coastal boat near Naibag, Pernem, the police discovered and seized a canoe being used for illegal sand extraction.

A case has been immediately registered under the relevant sections of the BNS Act, Goa Daman and Diu Act, and the Mines and Minerals Act. The authorities attached all equipment used in the illegal extraction, which included a canoe and 5 cubic meters of sand, with an estimated value of Rs 2,60,000.
