NEW DELHI: The government-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has installed a total of 135 towers for mobile connectivity in Goa and there are no plans for any new towers in the State.
Minister of State for Communications Manoj Sinha disclosed this in a written reply to Shantaram Naik (Goa) in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.He said the BSNL was paying rent for installing as many as 72 such towers, 50 of them on the private properties of individuals and organisations and the remaining on the land of village panchayats, municipals, government departments and colleges.
Sinha said four more towers were installed by the BSNL during the BRICS summit in Goa and all of them continue to be in operation. They were installed at the Taj, ONGC GBT, SINCRO and INS Hansa locations, he added.
