MARGAO: Reacting to the issue concerning the rejection of a resolution demanding political reservation for the Scheduled Tribes (ST) community, the BJP ST Morcha stated that Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa fears that his constituency may be reserved for the ST community.
Anthony Barbosa, Vice-President of the ST Morcha, also alleged that the MLA is misleading the people over the issue of political reservation for political gains.

“In 2023, a private member bill regarding political reservation for the ST community was introduced by MLA Ganesh Gaonkar, which received support from all other parties and was passed, followed by delegation to Delhi. Therefore, there is no point in reintroducing a similar resolution. Later in 2024, a calling attention motion was also raised in the assembly,” he stated.
He further alleged that Quepem MLA is misleading the people and may be trying to delay the declaration of political reservation for the ST community.
