SANGUEM: Deputy Collector Sanguem Ajay Gaude swung into action and closed two internal roads in Sanguem, which were used by the people from Karnataka to enter Goa.
The first route that stands closed is the one at Netravali leading to Kundal, Karnataka. The road has been closed following orders from the Deputy Collector by digging a trench across the pathway using earthmoving machinery.
The seven-km route to Karnataka was widely used by the people residing in Kundal to visit Netravali for shopping rather than proceeding to Zoida or Kumbharwada for making purchases.
This route was also used by the people from Zoida, Kumbharwada, Dandeli, Halyal and Karwar to come to Sanguem.
Similarly, another road which has been closed on the Goa – Karnataka border is at Zuna, which also forms a link to Karnataka. A metal pole was put across the road.
Gaude has instructed the Forest Department officials not to permit anyone to enter Goa through the Zuna road.
However, a small pathway, which remains open, leads to Tudov, Netravali, Naje and Nanem.
The pathway is hardly used by the people residing in Karnataka. However, there is a possibility that this pathway may be used by people residing in Karnataka as all the other roads are closed.
