ANJUNA: It appears that complaints from Anjuna and Vagator residents against the rave parties playing loud music late night during the weekend have fallen on deaf ears with the authorities especially the Goa Police not paying any heed to their requests in putting a full stop to such parties.
The residents of Anjuna and Vagator complain that they continue to suffer on account of the noise pollution caused by loud music played at the late-night rave parties during the weekend.

They further claimed that the complaints from the Noise Pollution Committee members to the concerned authorities have gone unheard. The residents further said even during off-season these weekend parties continue to haunt them.
The locals said last week, not only music parties, but live bands were playing music above the permissible limits but as usual, the concerned authorities turned a blind eye to such parties.
This Chaturthi weekend, despite limited tourists visiting the costal belt, rave parties with live bands continued playing nerve-racking music in some parts.
Anjuna Noise Pollution Committee member Dominic Pereira said, “Live band was performing from Thursday to Friday till late night. Several people contacted me with complaints of loud music being played at the rave parties, which I forwarded to local police. However, no action was initiated”.
“Loud music party was on at one of the famous party destinations in Anjuna till late night which continued beyond 2 am on Monday,” said Ravi Harmalkar, a local.
However, Desmond Alvares, a former member of the Anjuna Noise Pollution Committee said, “The status of loud music parties was zero during the last weekend, especially on Friday and Saturday.”
Alvares said earlier that he could hear loud music playing four kms away from his residence.
