PANJIM: The Congress on Monday said it expected action against Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar who has been named in the chargesheet in the Balli rioting case even as it questioned the removal of the name of Narendra Sawaikar from among those chargesheeted.
Reacting to the news, Congress Legislature Party spokesperson Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenço pointed out how during the previous government all ministers who were chargesheeted were removed from their posts.
“Take the case of (Dayanand) Narvekar, take the case of (Pandurang) Madkaikar and even Mickky (Pacheco) who were all divested of their portfolios when they were chargesheeted. It is my question to this government on whether they have the guts to do it,” he said.
Reginaldo also asked the government to come clean on the issue of the removal of the name of Narendra Sawaikar, the law commission chairman. “The government should explain why some names are removed and others kept. I am waiting for an answer,” Reginaldo said.
