PONDA: Following the decision by Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) to construct a pathway and steps at the dead-end of Khadpaband Road near Friends Colony, it is anticipated that this will deter the use of the dead end for crossing the highway, thereby reducing the risk of accidents at the Khadpaband-Kavlem road junction, according to local residents.

This junction has become notorious for accidents due to its location on a sharp bend on a slope.
Motorcyclists have been known to cross the junction in a perilous manner to take a shortcut towards Kavlem and Khadpaband, putting their lives at risk.
Residents of Friends Colony have expressed that, while some locals in Kavlem are advocating for improved connectivity between Kavlem and Khadpaband, crossing the road remains hazardous due to the high-speed traffic on the national highway, which significantly increases the likelihood of fatal accidents. The bikers are endangering themselves by attempting to navigate the junction.
Given that this area is prone to accidents, they have urged the PMC to enhance the space with steps and a walking pathway, which would discourage motorcyclists from crossing the highway. In response, the PMC has agreed to construct the pathway and steps for the benefit of local residents.
