‘No role in Sardinha episode’

MARGAO: There’s good news for beleaguered Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha poll with as many as 11 party MLAs getting elected unopposed to the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
In-charge of six North Eastern states, Faleiro, who is elated, told Herald that Arunachal Pradesh news bodes well for the Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha with 11 party MLAs getting elected unopposed to the 60 member Legislative Assembly. And Faleiro hoped the victory trend will echo in his home state for Goa, exuding confidence that the party would win the North and South Goa seats. “God has been kind to me. The Arunachal Pradesh election has indeed brought good news to the Congress headquarters in Delhi. The victory trend will continue everywhere”, he said.
On the Lok Sabha poll in Goa, Faleiro indicated that he would mobilise support for the Congress candidates over telephone. “My personal presence in Goa and campaigning for the two party candidates is ruled out because elections are also scheduled in the seven North Eastern states around the same time”, he said. Faleiro, however, hastened to add that he met Reginaldo during his short visit to Goa and had telephoned some of the people to work for the Congress candidate. Faleiro said he has no role to play in the party’s decision to deny the South Goa Congress ticket to sitting MP Francisco Sardinha. “I do not know what happened in the case of Sardinha. As far as the North East is concerned, the party
has nominated most of the sitting MPs”, he said, while declining to comment anything on Churchill Alemao’s outburst against him, blaming him for the ticket fiasco and his decision to
leave the party.
