MARGAO: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said the standard operating procedure (SOP) issued by Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) shows that the same has either not been worked out in coordination with the State agencies or if it has, then State authorities have not made life easier for the seafarers.
“In this SOP issued by MPT, for sign off in particular, responsibility is dumped on the shipping agent, who is required to inform multiple agencies such as DG Shipping, District Collector South, Director of Health Services, Nodal Officer appointed by the State government, Nodal Officer appointed by MPT, Port Health Officer under Ministry of Health, Bureau of Immigration, Customs, CISF and other authorities, which is vague” AAP claimed.

“We suggest a single window for receipt of information that will be shared among all concerned agencies. May be Nodal Officer MPT can transmit the arrival information to all concerned. Shipping agents also have to arrange for COVID-19 testing at designated centres,” said Elvis Gomes, AAP Goa Convenor.
