PANJIM: Congress again attacked the government for running the affairs of the State without a Chief Minister and questioned the functioning of the Cabinet Advisory Committee (CAC).
Former Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane also took a dig at PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar’s recent statement that he is ‘mentally prepared to take over the responsibility of the CM’s chair’.
“The three-member Cabinet Advisory Committee is not functioning properly. The entire administration is run from America. Even though CM (Manohar Parrikar) is unwell, he should have given the charge to someone from his cabinet,” Rane said, addressing a gathering of Congress MLAs, former MPs and party workers to commemorate Goa Statehood Day on Wednesday.
Parrikar, currently in the US is undergoing treatment for pancreatitis and is expected to return to Goa after mid-June.
Citing the present scenario of the government, the senior Congress leader spoke of trust among the coalition partners.
“One should have confidence in each other while running the government,” he said, hinting that no particular minister has been appointed to run the affairs of the State in absence of the CM.
He added that the government was in a financial crisis. “The people of Goa still want Congress in the State,” he added. “MGP is only for namesake in the coalition government. There are only three MLAs but the dream is to become the Chief Minister,” he further said, taking a dig at PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar.
Leader of the Opposition Chandrakant Kavalekar slammed the BJP-led government for not being able to get special status for Goa despite tall promises during the elections.
