We are supporting BBSM on the issue of MoI

BASURI DESAI met the new RSS Vibhag Sangh Chalak Laxman Behre to get his views on his plans for the Goa sangh

Herald: After the split in RSS in Goa recently and most of its swayamsevaks supporting Subhash Velingkar who was relieved by RSS, how do you look to take the Sangh forward?
Laxman Behre: There is no split in RSS, all swayamsevaks are together, there are no differences. Only because of one issue (medium of instruction) some people are confronting it. I don’t feel there is a division within RSS.
Herald: Is the RSS united, are all the swayamsevaks with the Goa Vibhag or with Goa Prant which is led by Velingkar?
LB: RSS swayamsevaks are with RSS, we don’t believe in separate Goa sangh. We say that all swayamsevaks are with RSS.
Herald: Will you hold a meeting to check the strength of the swayamsevaks with you?
LB:Since I have taken charge my first responsibility is to meet all workers and swayamsevaks. I have started visiting all the talukas and meeting the people. I am taking in all their views which will be considered in any of the decisions henceforth.
Herald: What will be your stand over the MOI?
LB: Ideology of RSS is that medium of instruction should be in local languages. We are supporting Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) on this issue.
Herald: The RSS is a powerful organisation; why do you have to depend on other forums like BBSM to press for demand of MOI?
LB:Sangh is a cultural organisation, we don’t have system of confrontation. BBSM is a separate organisation which was pursuing the issue. We will not have confrontationist attitude towards the government but we will support the BBSM.
Herald: What will be limits of RSS to support BBSM?
LB: If any swayamsevak feels the issue is right and feels like supporting the BBSM he is free to go and support the manch and take part in its programmes. We don’t have any limitations. We will support BBSM whole-heartedly.
Herald: Will you share a dais with BBSM if invited?
LB: No, Sangh chalak never goes on dais and give any statements. There is nothing in writing but it is always followed. Swayamsevaks will not be stopped from attending any of the BBSM meetings.
Herald: RSS former chief of Goa has made a statement that BJP had won four more seats because RSS had supported them. Will you support BJP in 2017 assembly election?
LB:For us all parties are same, we won’t work for any political party. We have not supported BJP in 2012. We only urge them to have a 100% turnout in the election but we are not telling swayamsevaks whom to vote. Everyone has freedom to vote and RSS will play a neutral role.
