Councillor Pooja Naik expressed concerns over the issue, stating, “We raised the issue of officials granting house numbers to unauthorised structures in our wards without consulting the elected representatives. We learned that a senior councillor from the ruling side influenced this process. We do not understand why this councillor interfered in our wards.”

She urged the MMC chairperson to investigate the matter and clarify how many such permissions had been granted.

Joining her in raising these concerns were councillors Johny Crasto, Ravindra Naik, and Nimisha Faleiro, along with former MMC chairperson Lyndon Pereira. They accused the ruling faction of intentionally creating confusion in wards represented by opposition members.

The councillors demanded accountability from the municipal administration, urging transparency and adherence to proper procedures in granting approvals. They also vowed to continue following this issue until it’s addressed. This issue has sparked a new wave of tension between the ruling and opposition groups in the council.
