PANJIM: Ambelim Sports Club crushed Arlem Youth Association 5-0 in a one-sided match to romp into the quarter-finals of Nagoa Panchayat Cup football organized by Pax of Nagoa SC, at Nagoa panchayat ground, Tuesday. Ambelim led 3-0 at half time.
Ambelim took the lead in the 10th minute through Samson Fernandes. Samson doubled the lead with a fantastic shot in the 15th minute. Samson continued to be a thorn in the flesh of the rival defence and completed his hat-trick in the 22nd minute.
In the second half, Arlem’s misery continued as Ambelim inflated their lead through Ashley Fernandes in the 35th minute and David Simoes in the 50th minute.
Wilfred Gomes of Arlem and Joseph Pinto of Ambelim were flashed the red card by the referee for their unsporting behavior on the field while Lyndon D’Silva of Ambelim was flashed the yellow card.
