PANJIM: Late Laxmikant V Desai Memorial All India Open Fide Rating (below 1600) chess tournament organized by Ponda Taluka Chess Association was inaugurated at the hands of Rajendra Desai, Trustee of Desai Pratishthan at Wagle High School, Mangeshi, on Saturday.
Out of the total 245 players participating in this tournament, 75 players are rated.
Also present at the inauguration were Kishor Bandekar (Secretary, Goa Chess Association), Satyawan Harmalkar (Jt Secretary, Goa Chess Association), Sagar Sakordekar (President, Goa Chess Association), Amogh Namshiker (Secretary, Ponda Taluka Chess Association), Avdhut Kamat (Vice-chairman, Manguirish Vidyadini Saunstha), Sanjay Kavlekar (SAG coach) and Mitasha Aigal (Headmistress, Wagle High School).
Sandesh Naik (Vice-President, Ponda Taluka Chess Association) compèred the function. Rajendra Desai appreciated the efforts of Ponda Taluka Chess Association for organizing the tournament and said that Desai Pratishthan will conduct this tournament every year.
Kishor Bandekar congratulated the organizers for professionally organizing the event.
This tournament is being held under the guidance of Chief Arbiter Vasanth BH, International Arbiter and he is assisted by Nagendra BS, National Arbiter.
Datta Kambli, Riddhi Zantye, Mrinal Telang, Mayank Chulet, Aakash Wagle, Sudhakar Patgar, Rajat Vaskar, Shaunak Kuncolienkar, Swera Braganza, Aston Dias, Aishwarya Thorat, Om Barde, Anirudh Parsekar, Sahil Shetty, Rahul Bharadwaj, Gourav Barik, Leon Mendonca, Rudresh Fadte and Sarvam Naik are leading with 3 points each after the end of 3 rounds.
