To promote sus tainable living and create a cleaner, greener city, an e-waste collection drive will be held in Margao on 20 September. Congress leader Chirag Datta Naik, under the Chi rag Datta Naik Initiative, will organize an E-Waste Collection Drive at Mahila Mandal Hall, Comba. The initiative is being carried out in association with the Global e-Waste Manage ment System. The drive is aimed at en couraging Margao residents to responsibly discard their old and unused electronic items. Improper disposal of e-waste is known to cause severe environmental haz ards, contaminating soil and groundwater, and pos ing health risks to people. Adding a unique incen tive, participants deposit ing e-waste will be given Rs 15 per kilogram, ensuring that the drive not only pro motes awareness but also motivates households to actively take part. The initiative reflects a growing concern in Goa over the rising amount of discarded electronics, often dumped with general waste due to lack of awareness and collection systems. Ex perts warn that with the increasing use of technol ogy in every household, the volume of e-waste will only multiply unless proper management systems are put in place. Through this camp, the organizers hope to set an example for other towns and villages across Goa to follow.
