Siddiqui, wife sent to 14 days judicial custody

PANJIM: Suleman Khan alias Siddiqui and Afsana alias Sarika Khan, wife of notorious criminal have been sent to 14 days judicial custody. Suleman was produced before the Panjim JMFC for remand. She was arrested along with Suleman on December 23 from their residence in Kerala.

Afsana Alias Sarika Khan, wife of Suleman was arrested after it was found that the proceeds of Suleman’s crimes were used to invest in flats and properties in Karnataka under the name of his wife, Afsana alias Sarika Khan, and his firm, M/s Sidsarika Hilite Builders Group.

She was arrested in Mapusa PS Case no. 142/2022 which is pertaining to grabbing land in Tivim. Police stated that an offence of land grabbing was registered under section 465, 466, 467, 468, 471, 419, 420, 198, 202, 209 read with 34 IPC against accused Suleman, his wife and others for illegally grabbing a property survey in Tivim by forged documents. He was arrested by the Special Investigative Team (SIT) for land grabbing.

Investigation has revealed that besides the above mentioned case Suleman has two other cases of land grabbing registered against him, one more in Mapusa and the third one in Valpoi Police jurisdiction.

The police have informed that Suleman had parked the proceeds of his crimes in the name of Afsana and have seized four flats including the office of the accused in Karwar, Karnataka.
