Tribal Welfare Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has announced that construction of the long-awaited Tribal Bhavan at Porvorim will finally commence within the next two months. The project, which had been stalled for several years, faced setbacks due to internal differences between two groups over its planning and implementation. Tawadkar clarified that these differences have now been resolved, and the government has secured all necessary sanctions and approvals to move ahead.
The Tribal Bhavan, once completed, will serve as a key institutional space dedicated to the welfare and empowerment of tribal communities in Goa. Strategically located at Porvorim, the facility is envisioned to function as an educational and community hub for tribal youth. Its primary goal will be to support students pursuing higher education by providing them with access to resources, infrastructure, and opportunities that can ease their academic journeys.

Besides education, the Tribal Bhavan will extend a range of facilities aimed at capacity building, skill development, and cultural promotion. Community activities, training programs, and cultural events are also expected to be an integral part of the centre’s functioning.
