Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured that the concerns of Pernem taxi operators have always been addressed, following recent protests over parking fee hikes at Mopa Airport.
Clarifying the situation, CM Sawant stated that while GMR, the airport operator, has increased parking charges for commercial vehicles, taxi operators will not be affected. The parking fee for taxis remains unchanged.
“The fee hike applies only to private cars,” the Chief Minister said, emphasizing that the government continues to support taxi operators and ensure their interests are protected.
The statement comes amid growing frustration among private vehicle owners at the airport, while taxi associations had raised concerns over potential indirect impacts of fee increases.
