he accused, identified as Rahul (20), had posed as an online tantrik and ran an Instagram page named ‘aghori_ji_rajasthan’ to lure victims. The scam came to light when Manisha Naveen Jilouya, a resident of Delhi’s Chanakyapuri, contacted him through Instagram.
Rahul convinced Manisha that her house was haunted and that special rituals were needed to remove the ghosts. To make it convincing, he even sent fake images depicting ghost-like figures. He then asked her to transfer Rs 1,14,000 for the rituals, after which he stopped responding to her calls and messages.

Manisha filed a complaint on the cybercrime portal, prompting the Delhi police to investigate. Tracking his mobile number, Instagram account, and bank transactions, police located Rahul in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, and arrested him.
During interrogation, Rahul confessed to creating fake Instagram accounts and websites to exploit people’s fears. He also admitted to running paid ads to promote his ‘tantrik’ reels and defraud people. Investigations revealed he had duped over 50 victims.
Police recovered three mobile phones, five SIM cards, three debit cards, and three checkbooks from Rahul. Authorities are now identifying all victims.
