The Goa Electricity Department has issued a circular stating that no new electricity connections will be given to unauthorized or illegal structures, even those with existing Electricity House Numbers (EHN). As per a Bombay High Court order, all new connections must have a valid construction license and technical clearance. This move aims to curb misuse of electricity provisions for illegal buildings.
The department will strictly enforce verification of legal construction documents before approval. This directive aligns with the court’s efforts to control rampant illegal constructions in Goa and their access to essential utilities.
