CM Pramod Sawant Orders Strict Action After Vehicle Torched at Sattari Police Outpost

Chief Minister and Home Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday came down heavily on those in volved in the outrageous act of setting a vehicle ablaze in front of police personnel at the Honda Police Outpost in Sattari, terming it a “brazen chal lenge to law enforcement.” Speaking to reporters, Sawant said he has issued strict directions to the po lice to ensure exemplary punishment for the culprits. “I have instructed strict action against those who set the vehicle on fire. I have directed the Superin tendent of Police, Deputy SP and the Police Inspector to act firmly. I am confident that they will take the nec essary action. I will not al low anyone to disturb law and order,” the Chief Minister asserted. The incident, which unfolded late Sunday night during Narkasur celebrations, escalated into a full-blown law and order crisis when an angry mob of around 300–400 peo ple gathered near the outpost and torched the complain ant’s car in the presence of police. Superintendent of Police (North) Rahul Gupta con firmed that eight persons have been arrested, while teams are working to trace others involved. “So far, eight people have been taken into custody. Ef forts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused,” Gupta said. According to police, the violence was triggered after a local resident, Rupesh Poke, filed a complaint over loud music being played during the festivities. The situation spiralled when a mob, allegedly led by Krishna Goankar, Shivdas Madkar, Gautam Parsekar and others, stormed the police premises, assaulted the complainant, and van dalised his vehicle. The Valpoi Police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those pertaining to unlawful assembly, criminal trespass, assault, and mischief by fire. The investigation is being led by LPSI Samiksha Naik, and additional forces remain de ployed in the area to maintain order. Officials said the violent episode — occurring on the eve of Diwali — has raised serious questions about public discipline and respect for law enforcement.
