A devastating road accident on the Hyderabad–Bijapur Highway on Monday morning has claimed 19 lives, leaving several families shattered and an entire community in mourning. Among the victims are three sisters from Tandur — Tanusha, Sai Priya, and Nandini — all college students from Hyderabad, and daughters of driver Yellaiah Goud.
The Goud family had recently celebrated the wedding of their eldest daughter, Anusha. Over the weekend, the three younger sisters had travelled home to attend another family wedding in Tandur. Their return journey on Monday morning, however, ended in tragedy.

“I had asked them not to come,” recalled a grief-stricken Yellaiah. “Their mother insisted, and when they were leaving, we told them to wait until morning. When I dropped them at the bus stop, someone said, ‘The bus is not in good condition. Why are you sending them?’ But I sent them. I have lost not one, but three daughters. What will I do now?” he said, breaking down.
The emotional devastation of the Goud family mirrors the widespread grief that has enveloped Tandur and the surrounding areas of Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district. The fatal highway collision has once again raised serious concerns over passenger safety and the condition of vehicles plying on long-distance routes.
Police are investigating the exact cause of the crash, while families of the victims struggle to come to terms with the immense loss.
