India’s UN envoy P Harish said members with “vested interests” should not head crucial committees that influence global security decisions. Without naming Pakistan, he highlighted how delays in granting travel waivers to Taliban officials exposed flaws in the system. Harish urged greater transparency, especially in rejecting terror listings—an area where China has repeatedly blocked India-US proposals. He also questioned outdated mandates such as UNMOGIP, calling for sunset clauses to streamline UN operations.
