Margao Police have apprehended two men from Uttar Pradesh who were allegedly running a widespread scam by posing as AC technicians and cheating unsuspecting residents across Goa. The duo reportedly carried out “servicing” of air-conditioners but would deliberately drain the coolant gas, later demanding inflated charges to refill it.
According to police, the men collected a standard servicing fee of ₹650 but earned most of their money by claiming the AC required a gas top-up, for which they charged nearly ₹3,500. During questioning, both suspects admitted to having cheated more than a dozen people using the same modus operandi.
The accused have been handed over to Margao Police for further investigation. Authorities have urged residents to verify the identity and credentials of AC service personnel before allowing them into their homes. Margao PI Suraj Samant is overseeing the inquiry.
