VERNA: Fatorda Veterans defeated Panchwadi Veterans 4-0 to advance to the semi-finals of the all-Goa 8-a-side veterans football tournament, organised by the Ex-Footballers of Verna and played at the Verna panchayat ground.
Both teams adopted a cautious, defensive approach in the first half, with their strikers failing to convert the chances created, resulting in a goalless interval.
Fatorda Veterans returned with an attacking intent in the second half, with hard-working striker Francisco Andrade turning the match decisively in their favour. Andrade netted the first three goals, while Antonio Crasto scored the fourth to seal a comprehensive victory and booking Fatorda Veterans a place in the semi-finals.
Francisco Andrade of Fatorda Veterans was awarded man-of-the-match from Anthony Rodrigues, ex Verna Sports Club goalkeeper.
