Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s progress in Kerala has come through sustained hard work and dedication, stressing that the party’s growing influence in the state was far from easy. Addressing newly elected BJP representatives of local bodies in Kerala, Shah said the party has steadily strengthened itself through the commitment of its grassroots workers.
Accusing both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) of corruption, appeasement politics, and “match-fixing,” the Home Minister asserted that neither alliance is capable of ensuring Kerala’s development or security. Only the BJP, he said, can win the trust of the people and deliver balanced growth along with strong governance.

Highlighting the BJP’s expanding public support and its success in other states, Shah expressed confidence that Kerala too would soon witness a BJP-led government. He linked the party’s vision in the state with the larger national goal of building a developed India by 2047 and said he was hopeful that Kerala would eventually have a BJP Chief Minister.
Citing examples of the party’s growth across the country, Shah recalled that the BJP once had just two MLAs in Assam but has since formed the government there twice and is preparing for a third term. In Manipur, where the party earlier had no representation, it has formed the government twice. Similar political turnarounds, he said, were seen in Tripura and Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP rose from a marginal presence to winning power through sustained organisational effort.
Acknowledging the challenges in Kerala, Shah said that making the BJP’s lotus symbol flourish in the state has never been easy. However, he underlined that while the party may not have held power for long in Kerala, it has always relied on the dedication, discipline, and ideological commitment of millions of its workers, which he described as the foundation of its growing strength in the state.
