Colvale Police Conduct Joint Search at Central Jail; Drugs, Cash and Mobile Phones Seized

Colvale Police carried out a major joint search operation at the Central Jail in Colvale, Goa, leading to the seizure of suspected narcotics, cash, and prohibited items from inmates. The operation was conducted as part of intensified measures to curb illegal activities within the prison premises.

During the raid, officials recovered around 30 grams of suspected charas, along with ₹30,000 in cash. Police also seized 15 packets of Golden Virginia tobacco, additional loose tobacco, and 26 mobile phones with chargers, all of which are banned inside the jail.

The joint operation was conducted in coordination with jail authorities, and a detailed investigation has been launched to ascertain how the contraband and electronic devices were smuggled into the high-security facility. Police are also probing possible links between inmates and individuals outside the jail who may have facilitated the supply of the seized items.

Authorities said further legal action will follow based on the outcome of the investigation, as security arrangements at the Central Jail are reviewed and strengthened.
