Hot-Mixed Roads Digging Issue Raised by Krishna Salkar; Digambar Kamat Assures Accountability and Coordination

MLA Krishna Salkar on Tuesday raised concerns over the frequent digging of newly hot-mixed roads, questioning the lack of coordination and accountability among departments involved in such works.

Responding to the issue, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Digambar Kamat assured the House that strict responsibility would be fixed on departments carrying out road digging. He stated that any department involved in excavating roads would be held accountable for repairing and maintaining the damaged stretch until the PWD undertakes hot-mixing.

The minister further informed that a Coordination Committee would soon convene to take decisions and issue clear directions to all concerned departments to streamline the process and avoid unnecessary road damage.

Acknowledging the pressure from various agencies to dig roads, Kamat emphasised that accountability and adherence to proper procedures would be strictly enforced to protect public infrastructure and minimise inconvenience to citizens.
