Villagers from Chimbel on Wednesday marched towards the Goa Legislative Assembly demanding the scrapping of the proposed Unity Mall and Prashasan Stambh projects. The protest has drawn support from various parts of the state, with demonstrators gathering near the Merces junction to voice their opposition.
Supporters and activists from across Goa joined the agitation, highlighting growing public resistance to the proposed projects. Protesters raised concerns over the impact of the developments on local communities and called upon the government to reconsider its plans.
In view of the large turnout, heavy police deployment has been put in place along the protest route and near sensitive locations to maintain law and order. Traffic diversions and security arrangements were also implemented to ensure the situation remains under control as the march progressed towards the Assembly.
